Video of Iranian protest

Once in awhile, I "wander" over to YouTube to see if there are any interesting videos taken in places I've never visited, like Abuja, Port Harcourt, Mexico City, Tehran...

Yesterday, when I searched for "Tehran" at YouTube, I found two short video clips of student protests of Iranian President Ahmadinejad's visit to their campus a few weeks ago. The protesters chant in Farsi (maybe someone in class can translate). The quality is not superb, but the public protest is loud and visible. One is a minute long, the other about 3 minutes. It seems to me that the videos could be a good illustration in a lecture or PowerPoint presentation.

The first one is described as "A one minute video of students at Amir Kabir University of Technology. Protesters are trying to brake the door and get inside, but police is stopping them. Hearing them shouting 'Death to Dictator' which is towards Iran's President, Mahmoud Ahmadinijad is really shocking."

The description of the second one is "Ahmadinejad is Booed and Ridiculed at Amir Kabir University While Ahmadinejad is visiting the Amir Kabir University, students protest against his presence."

Go to YouTube, search for "Tehran," "Amir Kabir," or "Ahmadinejad" to find thingss like this.

You can also find other useful video clips by searching other place names and people relevant to what you're students are studying.

As always, you have to take care using YouTube. Not everything there is school or classroom appropriate, so don't use it live.
