Reminder

QEII is now the UK's longest-reigning head of state. (This BBC article has some great photos, including the one below which shows the queen at her desk working with papers from an official portfolio.)

[Personal aside: It will be difficult for me when Elizabeth is replaced as monarch. I'm old enough to remember the day she was crowned. She's the only British head of state I've known about. 

[The great technical feat of that era was when NBC news filmed the coronation, put the film on a plane for New York, processed the film while in flight, and broadcast it on a news report the next morning.]
